Bauer (8-5) struck out nine and gave up two runs on six hits and zero walks in eight innings against the Astros on Wednesday.

Bauer, who held Houston without a hit for six innings in his season debut, came in with a 0.00 ERA in two career appearances against the Astros. Houston changed that in a hurry as Evan Gattis hit a two-run homer in the first. Bauer settled down nicely after, giving up no runs, four hits and no walks in his next seven innings, retiring 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. Bauer's nine strikeouts gave him 102 for the season, and Cleveland became the first team in history to have four pitchers reach 100 strikeouts before the All-Star break.

Bauer allowed two runs on three hits, walking one and striking out three over 6.1 innings of a 5-2 win against the Pirates on Friday night.

Bauer (7-5, 3.88 ERA) was throwing strikes in this one, and with his stuff, that usually equates to a solid outing. In fact, it could have lasted longer as he threw just 74 pitches (48 for strikes) before a rain delay of just over two hours ended his night with one out in the seventh inning. Bauer remains an intriguing fantasy option with the arsenal to provide a gem on any given night, but the inconsistency to throw a meltdown without notice.

Bauer fell to 6-4 after a disaster start Monday against Detroit, as he allowed seven runs on nine hits over just three innings. He struck out three but walked four.

Bauer barely threw more strikes (47) than balls (41). He's still an inconsistent pitcher, and he leads the American League in walks with 41 despite pitching only 84 innings this season. His stuff is good enough to get outs despite that on most nights, but when he's as wild as he was Monday, his out pitches aren't worth much. His ERA is up to 3.86, but he is still striking out over a batter per inning.

Bauer's next scheduled start has been pushed to Monday against the Tigers, Jordan Bastian of reports.

Manager Terry Francona confirmed that the Indians will add a starter to throw Monday, but an announcement is not expected until Friday. Regardless, Bauer will be on the mound Monday, providing him nearly a week of rest after last starting Tuesday in Chicago.

Bauer threw seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts against four hits and three walks to pick up his sixth win Tuesday against the Cubs.

Bauer's last scoreless outing came April 20th against the White Sox, 10 starts ago. He rebounded well from a disaster start last time out against the Mariners and now has six quality starts in his last seven outings. Bauer will take his occasional lumps when his control betrays him, but he continues a strong season. His ERA is down to 3.22.

Manager Terry Francona confirmed after Monday's postponement that Bauer would be on the mound Tuesday against the Cubs,'s Jordan Bastian reports.

Francona wouldn't confirm whether or not he'd push every member in the rotation back a day, but it's possible that fifth starter Shaun Marcum, who had originally been scheduled to pitch Tuesday, could have his turn skipped. The Cubs also announced they would push their Monday starter (Jake Arrieta) back a day, so Bauer will still have the same pitching matchup to contend with Tuesday.

Bauer will not start Monday after Monday's Indians-Cubs game was postponed due to inclement weather, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Neither team has provided an official update on when the game will be made up. Bauer figures to get the ball for Tuesday's matchup at Wrigley Field rather than having his turn in the rotation skipped.

Bauer (5-3) was horrible Wednesday in a loss to Seattle, giving up six runs on four hits and five walks in just 3.2 innings.

He also struck out five, but that's not much to hang your hat on. Still, after a streak of five consecutive outings in which Bauer pitched at least 6.2 innings and allowed two or fewer runs, we'll afford him a mulligan. At least it was a good hitter in Kyle Seager who did the majority of the damage, hitting a third-inning grand slam off Bauer. The sophomore starter has shown flashes of stardom this year, but his control is still a work in progress. Bauer next lines up against the Cubs on Monday.

Bauer (5-2) gave up two runs on four hits and four walks to go with five strikeouts in 6.2 innings in a win over the Royals on Thursday.

Bauer allowed only a long two-run homer to Lorenzo Cain while pitching into the seventh inning in a game called early because of rain. The young right-hander has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts, getting to the seventh in each of them. Thursday's win was Bauer's first victory in four career starts against the Royals. His next start will be against Seattle on Wednesday.

Bauer (4-2) took a tough loss Friday in Seattle, striking out 10 while allowing just two runs on six hits over seven innings.

All the damage came on a two-run homer by Seth Smith in the fifth inning. That's now four straight starts of seven-plus innings for Bauer this year, and though he still needs to rein in his control, the league sure has had trouble hitting him. Bauer's shown terrific development this season; he should carry that over into Thursday's start against the Royals.
