After being designated for assignment Tuesday, Marcum cleared waivers and will report to the Triple-A club. With Yan Gomes (knee) expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, the Indians need a spot on the 40-man roster for Brett Hayes. Marcum fared well in his only appearance for Cleveland, holding the Tigers to one run over five innings of mop-up work. If he isn't claimed by another team, the 33-year-old righty could eventually be an option to serve as an injury replacement in the big-league rotation.
