Kalish cleared waivers Sunday and was sent to Triple-A Iowa, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Kalish was designated for assignment Friday, and it appears he didn't draw the fancy of any other clubs. He would likely be one of the top candidates to rejoin the club should another injury occur in the outfield but for now he'll concentrate on doing all he can to keep his name atop the list by performing in the minors.

Kalish was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Friday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

EDGE Analysis

Kalish was added to the 40-man roster and called up from Triple-A Iowa back on May 3, but he'll now be subject to waivers, as the Cubs needed to free up a roster spot for Miguel Montero, who came off the DL on Saturday. If Kalish passes through the waiver process unclaimed, he'll almost certainly land back at Triple-A.

Kalish is in the lineup and batting sixth for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

EDGE Analysis

Kalish was called up to the majors Tuesday and will now receive his first start in left field. The 28-year-old was hitting .368 with four doubles, two triples, four RBI, and three stolen bases through 20 games at the Triple-A level prior to being called up.

Kalish was added to the 40-man roster and called up to the majors Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Matt Szczur headed to the disabled list, a spot opened up on the Cubs roster, and they needed another outfielder to fill the role. Kalish is raking with Triple-A Iowa, holding a .368/.471/.509 batting average, but he hasn't appeared in the majors since 2014 and only has a .245 batting average in his big league career. Between this and limited playing time, it could be tough for Kalish to get much going at the plate in Chicago. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, Christian Villanueva was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Kalish may be called up from Triple-A Iowa if Matt Szczur (hamstring) is placed on the disabled list, CSN Chicago's Patrick Mooney reports.

EDGE Analysis

Szczur had an MRI on Tuesday, and Kalish's agent sent out a tweet that strongly suggests the transaction will occur. After sitting out of professional baseball last season, the 28-year-old Kalish appears poised to play in the majors for the first time since 2014. He never had much luck against big-league pitching in his previous stints, but he does own a .368/.471/.509 slash line for Triple-A Iowa through 70 plate appearances this season. With Jason Heyward (wrist) merely day-to-day, Kalish doesn't figure to get more than two or three starters per week.

Kalish and the Blue Jays failed to complete the minor-leauge contract they agreed to last month, making the outfielder a free agent, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.

A reason for the dissolution of the deal hasn't been provided. Kalish was expected to provide outfield depth for the Blue Jays at the Triple-A level with a shot at competing for a reserve role with the big club in spring training, but he'll now have to pursue an opportunity elsewhere.

Kalish signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.

Kalish will receive the same tryout he did with the Cubs last season, where he was able to turn it into an Opening Day roster spot. He split much of last season between the majors and Triple-A, but ultimately was outrighted in off the 40-man in the offseason. He elected to become a free agent, and has now landed with the Blue Jays with a chance to make another Opening Day roster.

Kalish elected to become a free agent Saturday rather than accept an assignment to Triple-A Iowa, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Kalish split time between the Cubs and there minor league Iowa affliate in 2014. His prospects of making it back to the majors with the Cubs are likely slimmer than with other clubs given the team's depth in the outfield. He is now free to sign with any team.

Kalish has had his contract purchased by the Cubs and will join the team down the stretch, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.

He has hit just .252/.323/.406 with Triple-A Iowa, and doesn't offer much fantasy upside. It's also unlikely that the Cubs would give him many looks considering all the other players on the roster that will need to be evaluated over the final month.

Kalish cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.

Kalish failed to make much of a splash during his time with the Cubs this season, batting .242 with no homers and three stolen bases. He'll see more regular at-bats at Triple-A, but profiles as no better than a fourth or fifth outfielder at the major league level at this point in his career.
