Hundley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Hundley will take a seat for the second time in five games, giving way to Michael McKenry behind the plate. Look for Hundley to return to the backstop when the Rockies open up a three-game series with the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Hundley is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, Thomas Harding of reports.

Hundley turned in his fourth multi-hit game of the young season Tuesday, tripling off Brandon Morrow and later homering off Padres closer Craig Kimbrel. Mike McKenry will take over behind the plate Wednesday, but Hundley will continue to see the majority of the starts behind the plate for Colorado, likely sitting every third day or so.

Handley hit his first home run of the year as part of a 2-for-4 day Tuesday in a 7-6 in over San Francisco. He also tripled while scoring in two runs scored and driving in two.

Hundley is off to a good start with the Rockies after signing as a free agent in the off-season. In the thin air of Colorado he could get close to his career-high 13 home runs set in 2013. Expecting better than a .250 average is probably unrealistic, however, so don't pay for the average, which is boosted by a .393 BABIP that is likely to correct itself over the next few weeks.

Hundley reached base three times Monday against the Padres, singling twice and walking once in the 14-3 loss.

Hundley is holding down a full-time role behind the plate for the Rockies due in large part to his defense, but he's acquitted himself well with the bat thus far, contributing a .289/.341/.342 batting line. Unfortunately, his position in the bottom third of the lineup hasn't equated to many run-scoring or RBI opportunities, which will more than likely remain the case the rest of the way even with the Coors Effect propping up his batting average.

Hundley will be held out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers,'s Thomas Harding reports.

Consider it just a normal day off for Hundley, who was behind the plate for the first two games of the series. Hundley isn't exactly lighting it up with the bat with a .257/.297/.314 slash line over his nine games, but his capable defense behind the plate will continue to earn him regular duty ahead of Michael McKenry, who will get the nod behind the plate Sunday.

Hundley is not in the Rockies' lineup Wednesday against the Giants, the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports.

Mike McKenry is behind the plate for the Rockies on Wednesday as Hundley just gets the day off. Both Hundley and McKenry put up solid overall numbers when they're in there, in part because half the games are in Coors Field, but McKenry might have a bit more pop than Hundley for those in daily leagues.

Hundley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.

Hundley caught Saturday night's game at Coors Field, but will sit for the day game that directly follows. Michael McKenry will man the backstop in his stead, making his first start of the 2015 season.

Hundley went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.

As was expected coming out of spring training, Hundley has garnered the first two starts of the season at catcher, as the Rockies have decided to transition former top backstop Wilin Rosario to reserve duty at first base. While Hundley will provide most of his value to the Rockies in framing pitches and controlling the run game, he's gotten off to a strong start offensively with four hits in his nine at-bats. Assuming that Hundley continues to receive the bulk of the starts behind the plate in what looks to be a potent Rockies lineup, he could be a useful contributor in two-catcher formats.

Hundley has posted a .229 on-base percentage and has one homer and six RBI over 47 spring training at-bats.

As expected, the offensive numbers Hundley has delivered haven't been pretty, but the 31-year-old carries plenty of value for the Rockies due to his far superior defensive abilities than Wilin Rosario, who served as the team's primary backstop a season ago. With Rosario transitioning to first base this season, Hundley should be in line to receive the bulk of the starts at catcher, with Michael McKenry expected to spell him once or twice a week. Hundley probably won't occupy a prominent spot in the lineup nor deliver high-end production for fantasy owners, but by virtue of playing half his games at Coors Field, he should be able to improve upon the .243/.273/.358 line he supplied with the Padres and Orioles in 2014.

Hundley is expected to serve as the Rockies' primary catcher this season,'s Thomas Harding reports.

While the Rockies haven't formally anointed Hundley as their No. 1 backstop, Wilin Rosario's early arrival at spring training to work out at first base suggests there will be a changing of the guard behind the plate. Rosario's well-documented struggles as a game-caller have prompted the Rockies to try to turn him into a versatile right-handed bench bat, which should enable the defensive-minded Hundley to serve as the primary catcher against right-handed pitching. Hundley has historically been an anemic contributor offensively, but having Coors Field as a home park should result in dramatic improvement upon last season's .243/.273/.358 batting line. In deeper two-catcher leagues, he should warrant consideration on draft day.
