Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that infielder Michael Young has chosen to retire rather than continue playing in 2014. Young was considering suiting up for the 2014 season, preferably for the Dodgers, but chose spending time with his family over another grueling season. The 37-year-old will end his 14-year MLB career with a career .300 average and 2,375 hits.

The Dodgers continue to try to convince Michael Young to hold off on retirement to be the team's second baseman, per Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles. The Dodgers signed Cuban infielder Alexander Guerrero to a four-year, $28 million contract in October to be the team's starting second baseman, but Saxon notes the team is wary of Guerrero's ability to field the position. The 37-year-old continues to weigh his options, but he recently intimated that he'd return to the Dodgers if he did decide to play next season.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Young is still undecided on whether he'll retire or return for a 15th season. According to Hernandez, Young noted that if he did decide to return that it's a "safe bet" it would be for the Dodgers. The 37-year-old infielder has had a terrific career, but he'll have minimal fantasy value in 2014 even if he does decide to return.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed Saturday that they are not looking at Michael Young to fill their utility role. He did admit that the team considered him this offseason, but believes there are many other teams that would give him an opportunity to play more. The Dodgers remain in contact with the veteran infielder and the Yankees have expressed interest as well.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York reports that the Yankees have expressed interest in free agent infielder Michael Young. The Yankees are simply doing their due diligence and exploring all options in the event that Alex Rodriguez's suspension is upheld. They are also considering bringing back Mark Reynolds, potentially to platoon with Kelly Johnson at the hot corner.

The Brewers are showing interest in Michael Young for their first base opening, sources tell FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The Brewers have also been linked to Ike Davis as they continue to search for a replacement for the departed Corey Hart. Young isn't a prototypical first baseman, but the Brewers don't project to go far this upcoming season and could just be looking for a stopgap for 2014 at this point. The Dodgers and Rockies are also still in the mix for the 37-year-old.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman report that the Yankees are interested in Michael Young and Brian Roberts. He also mentions Mark Reynolds, which he had reported on Sunday. It's unlikely that the Yanks would view Young or Roberts as legitimate full-time options at second base, but it's possible they could share the position with Kelly Johnson if the club is unable to land a bigger name at the position.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Dodgers are considering re-signing Michael Young to be their everyday third baseman. Olney notes that it's looking increasingly likely that Juan Uribe signs elsewhere which has increased their desire to sign Young. They currently have Hanley Ramirez slated to play third, with Dee Gordon at shortstop and Alexander Guerrero at second base. Due to that uncertainty, it may be wise to re-up with the versatile Young. The 37-year-old hit .279/.335/.395 with eight homers and 46 RBI in 147 games between the Phillies and Dodgers in 2013.
