Carson was released by the A's on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 33-year-old struggled in 33 games with Triple-A Nashville after coming over from the Dodgers' organization, slashing .209/.296/.336 in 126 plate appearances. Carson has played in 92 career games at the major league level, but is little more than an organizational depth piece at this point.

Carson was traded to the A's on Friday in exchange for cash considerations, True Blue LA's Eric Stephen reports. Carson has struggled with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, posting a .179/.284/.250 triple-slash line over 68 plate appearances. Already 33 years old, he'll help the A's with organizational depth.

Carson was reassigned to minor league camp Sunday. Carson stood little chance of breaking camp with the big league roster, and now appears destined for Triple-A. He spent all of 2014 in Triple-A as a member of the Indians organization, finishing the campaign with .237/.257/.356 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI.

Carson has signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers, Ryan Walton of Valley Bay News reports. Even after trading away Matt Kemp, the Dodgers have a pretty promising stable of outfielders. That makes Carson a long shot to break camp with the big-league squad, after he spent all of 2014 with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate. Already 33 years old, Carson owns a career .237/.257/.356 slash line over 187 plate appearances in the majors. He posted a .259/.335/.423 line for Triple-A Columbus last season.

Indians released OF Matt Carson. The veteran outfielder was in camp as a non-roster invitee, but was told Saturday that he would not make the squad. It's possible he could re-up on a minor league deal with the Tribe, or look elsewhere for a better opportunity.

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians are close to re-signing Matt Carson to a minor league contract. The deal will include an invitation to spring training. Carson was non-tendered by the Indians earlier this week, but he'll remain in the organization. He has batted .237/.257/.356 over 92 games at the big league level.

Indians non-tendered OF Matt Carson. It's no surprise. The 32-year-old outfielder has hit .237/.257/.356 over 92 games at the big league level and was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He'll have to settle for a minor league deal somewhere.

Matt Carson went 3-for-3 and slugged his first home run of the season, powering the Indians to a 7-1 victory over the White Sox on Sunday. Carson scored a run, drove home a pair and also swiped his second base of the season. The 32-year-old outfielder has six hits in his first eight at-bats with the Tribe, and could make a push for additional playing time if he continues to hammer the baseball.

Matt Carson was diagnosed with a strained neck and suffered a cut on his forehead after sliding into the right field wall Saturday. Carson left the game after the incident. The 31-year-old outfielder is battling for a bench spot with the Indians, so the injury is ill-timed with just over a week until Opening Day. He is considered day-to-day.
