Machado is hitting leadoff Saturday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

This is pretty nice for Machado, as he should be able to pick an extra at-bat or two per week if he stays in the leadoff role. He's hitting .257 but is slugging .473 and is one of the top third base options in fantasy baseball.

Machado went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

Machado was hitting .167 just a week ago, but as can happen in April, he has gone 10-for-23 in his last six games to raise the average to .254. Machado missed all of April, 2014 while returning from his first knee injury and had a similar slow start in May before rewarding owners with 11 extra-base hits, including five home runs, in June. This situation could be completely different, but it is worth noting.

Machado went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season Wednesday against the Yankees.

It was Machado's first home run of the season, but he also had two strikeouts. He may be struggling with his contact rate with seven strikeouts in his first 31 at-bats, but it is was too early to say with the small sample size.

Machado was dropped to sixth in the order Monday but he went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Machado entered the game just 1-for-19, but he responded by showing signs of life at the plate for the first time this season. Machado is a boom or bust candidate this season, as he went from 14 home runs in 2013 to 12 home runs in the first half of 2014 before a knee injury wiped out his second half. One of his problems has been working the count as Machado has walked in just 4.7% of his career plate appearances.

Machado went 0-for-3 with a RBI in Tuesday's game against the Rays.

He is currently hitless through two games and will look to snap out of two hitless streaks Wednesday as he faces Jake Odorizzi, whom he is 0-for-7 against for his career.

Machado went 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Tuesday's spring training game against the Yankees.

Machado has played in five games in eight days and manager Buck Showalter has repeated that the knee injury he suffered last August is not an issue. It sure did not hold Machado back in Tuesday's game, as he would not be stealing bases without being able to run at full speed. Machado stole just two bases in 2014 and speed probably will not be a major part of his game this season. Machado will continue to see steady at-bats this spring as he looks to return to his 2013 form in which he had 68 extra-base hits.

Machado (knee) made his spring debut Wednesday without incident and went 0-for-3 with a nice defensive play, according to MASN Sports.

Machado skipped Tuesday's opener and elected to play Wednesday instead. He is slated to play Thursday as well, so he is at a point where he can play back-to-back days with no restrictions. The Orioles figure to play Machado a lot this spring. THe 22-year-old has room to grow from his .278/.324/.431 slash line through the first half of 2014. Keep in mind Machado had 51 doubles in 2013 and some of those balls figure to leave the park as he fills out his frame.

Machado (knee) has joined the Orioles at spring training and he is not restricted in any way after his injury last year, MASN Sports reports.

Machado is expected to see lots of at-bats to test the health of his knee. The injury wiped out half of his season in 2014. Machado is just 22-years-old and he was in the middle of a breakout power year, gathering 12 home runs in 82 games. If he takes the next step forward, he could become a 30 home run threat.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday on MLB Network Radio that Machado (knee) will not be limited at all in spring training. This doesn't come as a major surprise, as Machado said last month that he expected to be a "full-go" for spring training, but it's reassuring nonetheless. Machado fell victim to a knee injury for a second straight season in 2014 and required another surgery, but he said he regained full motion in the knee just five weeks after the procedure.

Machado (knee) said he feels great and expects to be "full-go" for spring training, MLB.com's Adam Berry reports.

Despite his propensity for injury, Machado is exhibiting an encouraging rate of recovery from his latest issue. According to Berry, Machado's only activity limitation Wednesday was lateral movement while fielding grounders. Even with the specter of durability troubles looming over him, Machado appears on track to go into Opening Day at full speed.
