Upton (quad) exited Monday's game against the Rockies in the fourth inning for precautionary reasons because the Padres had a 9-0 lead at the time, Dennis Lin of U-T San Diego reports.

Upton missed Sunday's game with a quad strain but returned Monday to take three at bats, resulting in one hit and one run scored. He was replaced by Will Venable but should be considered available moving forward since he only left Monday's game because it was getting out of hand.

Upton (quad) will return to the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Upton sat out Sunday due to the quad injury, but worked out in left field earlier Monday with the staff watching. He must have looked good enough, as he'll return to the lineup Monday, batting in his normal cleanup spot.

Upton (quadriceps) will not be in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.

The Padres are listing Upton as day-to-day after he suffered a left quad strain in the ninth inning of Saturday's extra-inning loss to the Cubs. Upton remained in the game to take his at-bat in the 10th, but the Padres decided it was a prudent move to keep him on the bench Sunday. His injury is being described as "mild," according to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin, so it sounds likely that he'll be back in the lineup before long.

Upton suffered a quad strain in Saturday's game and is considered day-to-day, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.

Upton was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI for the day, including a double in the 10th inning. Will Venable came in to pinch run for Upton following the double. The Padres and Cubs will play the rubber match of their series Sunday afternoon and if Upton is unavailable, Venable figures to take his place in left field.

Upton was 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI on Tuesday in a 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks. He also walked and struck out once in the game.

Upton crushed his second home run and first at home on the year. He is off to strong start, batting .303 with an on-base percentage over .350, as he approaches free agency. If he is healthy, he should put up another great offensive year, even in playing his home games in Petco Park.

Upton went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run Tuesday against Seattle.

Upton is having an excellent spring thus far with a .324/.378/.765 slash line to go with three home runs, six doubles, and five RBI. He does have eight strikeouts against three walks, but Upton has a career strikeout rate of 23.8% to begin with. Although his batting average will likely come back to earth during the season, his power and slugging percentage make him a top-20 option in the outfield.

Upton (illness) returned to the lineup Monday after missing the weekend's games with an illness. He was 1-for-4 Monday before homering and doubling Tuesday against San Francisco.

Upton is off to a good start this spring with two home runs in his first ten at-bats. His long ball Tuesday was one of four home runs for the Padres against the Giants. It appears Upton's illness is behind him and shouldn't be a concern moving forward.

Upton (illness) could return to the lineup Sunday, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.

While Upton reported feeling better Saturday, the team decided to send him home anyway so he can rest up and return at full strength soon, if not Sunday. The two-time All-Star made a strong first impression with his new club, smacking a solo shot off Forrest Snow in his debut Wednesday.

Upton was out of Friday's lineup due to illness, according to his manager.

This shouldn't be a worry for any owners. Upton has had an otherwise problem-free spring training and remains a 30-30 threat in a corner outfield position. Petco Park definitely makes the homer side of 30-30 tougher, but not to the degree where we should expect less than 20 from him.

Upton was traded to the Padres on Friday in exchange for prospects, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.

New general manager A.J. Preller has been quite busy this offseason stocking up on hitting talent for the Padres, and may have gotten his biggest fish yet in Upton, who joins a retooled outfield that now includes Matt Kemp and Wil Myers. The move to San Diego figures to result in a downgrade in power production for Upton, but his presence in the middle of the order -- along with the Padres' other aforementioned outfielders -- gives the lineup some legitimate bite.
