Upton went 2-for-4 with two three-run home runs in Sunday's win over the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

He victimized rookie lefty Henry Owens in the third and fifth innings with the no-doubt blasts, giving Upton 15 homers on the season. The home runs were his first in August though and he's slashing a paltry .177/.227/.290 on the month, so he'll need more than just one big game to put himself back on the fantasy radar in most formats.

Upton will be held out of the Tigers' lineup Thursday and Friday in an effort to "hit the reset button," according to manager Brad Ausmus, MLive's Evan Woodbery reports.

EDGE Analysis

He was held out Wednesday as well as part of a planned three-day absence that the Tigers hope will jumpstart their left fielder with the big name and the bigger contract. Upton is 1-for-31 in his last eight games and has been one of the bigger fantasy busts this season. Alex Presley's contract was purchased from Triple-A and he is starting in left field Thursday.

With Upton headed to the bench, Andrew Romine will join an outfield of J.D. Martinez and Tyler Collins. Upton has had disastrous numbers as of late and is just 1-for-30 with eight strikeouts over the last seven games.

Upton went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Sunday's 11-0 win over the Astros.

EDGE Analysis

After three poor months to begin his tenure with the Tigers, Upton finally seems to be getting comfortable, hitting .278/.320/.522 in 90 July at-bats with five homers, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored. It might be too late to completely salvage his season, but Upton could still be productive down the stretch as Detroit pushes for a spot in the postseason.

Upton had a disappointing season in first go-round with the Tigers, but has been better as of late. He's hit safely in nine of 12 games since the All-Star break while blasting three home runs during that span. The veteran is now slashing .236/.290/.397 with 12 home runs, 44 RBI and 47 runs this season.

Upton will start in left field and bat sixth in the lineup Sunday against the Royals.

EDGE Analysis

As anticipated, the Tigers will waste no time getting Upton back in action after he was reinstated from the bereavement list earlier in the day. Upton's return resulted in Steven Moya being sent back to Triple-A, while Tyler Collins will move over from left field to right field.

Upton was reinstated from the bereavement list Sunday, MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

As expected, Upton rejoined the team after missing the last two games while attending to a family matter. Steven Moya was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to clear room for Upton. The Tigers have yet to release their lineup for Sunday's series finale with the Royals, but Upton will presumably return to his usual duties in left field.

Upton was placed on the bereavement list Thursday, Matthew Mowery of The Oakland Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Tigers will be without Upton for at least their first three games coming out of the break as he'll be away from the team to be with his family. Either Steven Moya or Mike Aviles will take over for Upton in left field when the Tigers resume play Friday against Kansas City in all likelihood.
