Upton provided all of the offense in the game on Monday, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the Tigers' 1-0 win over the Twins.

EDGE Analysis

Upton has had a conspicuously poor first season in Detroit, but has finally started to put things together of late. The outfielder is hitting .289 in July and has hit seven of his 10 home runs since June 6.

Upton will start in left field and bat sixth in the lineup Sunday against the Royals.

EDGE Analysis

As anticipated, the Tigers will waste no time getting Upton back in action after he was reinstated from the bereavement list earlier in the day. Upton's return resulted in Steven Moya being sent back to Triple-A, while Tyler Collins will move over from left field to right field.

Upton was reinstated from the bereavement list Sunday, MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

As expected, Upton rejoined the team after missing the last two games while attending to a family matter. Steven Moya was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to clear room for Upton. The Tigers have yet to release their lineup for Sunday's series finale with the Royals, but Upton will presumably return to his usual duties in left field.

Upton was placed on the bereavement list Thursday, Matthew Mowery of The Oakland Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Tigers will be without Upton for at least their first three games coming out of the break as he'll be away from the team to be with his family. Either Steven Moya or Mike Aviles will take over for Upton in left field when the Tigers resume play Friday against Kansas City in all likelihood.

Upton went 2-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season in Thursday's loss to the Blue Jays.

EDGE Analysis

Thursday's second-inning solo shot was Upton's first blast since he hit two on June 20. He's notched a hit in seven of his last nine games while racking up six RBI during that span. Overall, Upton's first season with Detroit has been a disappointment so far. The 10th-year veteran is on pace to strike out 200-plus times for the first time in his career, and hit the fewest amount of home runs he's had since 2012 when he hit 17 as a Diamondback.

Upton hit two singles and finished 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 12-1 loss to Cleveland.

EDGE Analysis

Remarkably, he didn't add to his massive strikeout total Tuesday. Upton has produced lukewarm results in July, going 6-for-20 (.300) with two doubles in five games this month. It's hard to get excited or even hopeful with this fantasy anchor, but it's equally difficult to cut him loose given his pre-draft value. Still, park Upton on your bench and let him deal with the slivers, especially if you're rolling in head-to-head matchups. His lack of consistency is maddening.

Upton went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Rays.

EDGE Analysis

He's now put together a modest five-game hitting streak, as Upton continues to tease breaking out of his first half slump. His .245/.322/.443 slash line in June was his best month of the season so far, but he'll need to do significantly better than that in July to begin justifying his preseason price tag.

Upton has gone 7-for-42 (.167) with two doubles, three walks and 10 strikeouts since he hit two home runs and drove in three runs against the Mariners on June 20.

EDGE Analysis

Between June 11 and 20, Upton looked like he was turning around his season. He hit safely in 10 straight games, going 13-for-42 (.310) with one double, one triple, four home runs and 14 RBI. But that production was just a mirage -- Upton has an overall slash line of .227/.284/.368 and his 102 strikeouts are third in the American League, behind the epic whiffing of Chris Davis and Mike Napoli. Bench him. And pretty soon, you'll need to consider a cut-and-run strategy.

Upton hit a pair of home runs -- including a walk-off solo blast in the 12th inning -- in a 2-for-5 game with two runs scored and three RBI in Monday's win over the Mariners.

EDGE Analysis

Has Upton figured it out? He now has four home runs in his past four games, part of a 10-game hitting streak. Over that span, Upton has raised his OPS from .613 to .684. His season to date has still been underwhelming, but Upton is finding the kind of hot streak that can make owners believe the Upton from the last three years -- .262/.344/.470 with an average of 27 homers per season -- will be the one who shows up for the rest of 2016.
