Altuve hit his seventh home run in Monday's win over the Royals, a solo shot off Joe Blanton.

After going 32 games between home runs, Altuve now has a pair in his last three games. Altuve's slugging percentage peaked at .524 in early May, when he looked like a no doubt All-Star and arguably the best player at second base. That power had all but disappeared until recently, as Altuve slugged just .276 over 32 games from May 16 to June 26. Altuve has dealt with a hamstring injury for much of the month, and perhaps this power burst is a sign he's finally free of its effects.

Altuve (hamstring) is back in the lineup Monday against the Angels. He's slated to bat third in the order.

As expected, manager A.J. Hinch won't shake up the red-hot duo of George Springer and Carlos Correa at the top of the order, but Altuve will occupy premium real estate in the Houston lineup. The second baseman has missed the past four games with the hamstring injury, so it's possible that he could be limited in the run game upon his return, at least initially.

Altuve will ask to bat eighth if he's available to play Monday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve has been battling a hamstring injury of late, but if he's not able to run at full speed, he admittedly doesn't want to mess with the 1-2 punch of George Springer and Carlos Correa atop the Astros' order. It's unlikely manager A.J. Hinch will deploy Altuve if he's hampered in any way, but it's a situation worth monitoring moving forward. His utility in daily formats would be limited if batting near the bottom of the order and attempting to return from injury at the same time.

Altuve (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.

Altuve will miss his fourth straight game, once again giving way to Marwin Gonzalez at second base. The Astros don't have a team day off until July, so Altuve won't be getting any help from the schedule in the short term either. Consider him day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Orioles.

Altuve (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Mariners.

Renewed hamstring discomfort knocked Altuve out of Wednesday's game and he's now set to miss a third straight start. The 25-year-old said Thursday that he was feeling slightly better than 80 percent, but the issue has been lingering and the Astros could hold him out again Sunday if they have any reservations about the health of his hamstring.

Altuve (hamstring) is not in Friday's lineup.

On Thursday the Astros' second baseman said he was feeling slightly better than 80 percent, so it's not surprising he was held out for a second day in a row. He should continue to improve and could be back in the lineup sometime this weekend. Marwin Gonzalez will get the start at second base Friday.

Altuve (hamstring), who is not in the lineup Thursday, said he's feeling slightly better than 80 percent, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Altuve continues to battle tightness in his right hamstring, and he'll be held out again Thursday as a precaution. Continue to consider Altuve day-to-day in advance of Friday's contest.

Altuve (hamstring) will not play Thursday, Evan Drellich of The Houston Chronicle reports.

Astros' manager A.J. Hinch did not like the body language from Altuve after the injury and decided it was best for him to take the day off. Altuve could return to the lineup Friday.

Altuve exited Wednesday's game in the third inning due to hamstring tightness, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

McTaggart noted that Altuve has discomfort in his right hamstring, the same hamstring that caused him to miss three games earlier in the week. Marwin Gonzalez has come on to replace Altuve. An update on Altuve's status should be made available prior to Thursday's series finale in Colorado.

In his return to the starting lineup Tuesday, Altuve went 1-for-4 with a walk, RBI single and a run scored in the Astros' 8-5 win over the Rockies.

After a hot April (.367 batting average), the reigning MLB batting champion has cooled over the last month and a half, hitting .231 in May and .261 through 12 games in June. The two-time All-Star is hitting .290/.331/.393 overall, however, and leads the AL with 17 stolen bases.
