Wieland is expected to be called up ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rockies to serve as the Dodgers' 26th man, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

It's not clear at this juncture if Wieland will start Game 2 of the doubleheader or simply serve as the long man out of the bullpen. If the Dodgers opt to use David Huff in relief of Zack Greinke during Monday's series opener, Wieland would likely be given the spot start for Tuesday's nightcap, which would normally be a more intriguing role for fantasy purposes. However, with a start at Coors Field is hardly a favorable environment for success, and with a demotion back to Triple-A expected to come immediately after the doubleheader, it's difficult to recommend Wieland as even a speculative pickup.

Wieland was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Bill Shaikin of the LA Times reports.

Wieland was called up for a spot start Wednesday, and he will head back to Oklahoma City for the time being. Though he lasted just 4.2 innings in Wednesday's game, he will be an option next time the Dodgers need to bring up a starter.

Wieland surrendered six runs on six hits, walking four and striking out two over 4.2 innings on Wednesday.

The call up didn't go as the youngster planned as he gave up five runs in the first inning, including a pair of two-run home runs by Scooter Gennett and Adam Lind. Wieland is now 0-1 with a 11.57 ERA after one game and we wouldn't recommend him in any fantasy format as of now.

Wieland was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

The move is all but a formality, as the team announced earlier in the week that Wieland would get the start in Wednesday's game against Milwaukee. The 25-year-old has given up eight runs on 17 hits through 20.0 Triple-A innings this season.

Wieland said he will start Wednesday against the Brewers, not Thursday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

While Wieland will effectively take the rotation spot vacated by Scott Baker, the Dodgers will keep Wieland on regular rest and give Carlos Frias one additional day between starts. The 25-year-old Wieland gave up eight earned runs on 17 hits and two walks with 22 strikeouts in 20 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City to start the year.

Wieland will get the start for the Dodgers on Thursday in Milwaukee, the Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett reports.

He has gone exactly five innings in all four of his starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, but has not thrown more than 82 pitches in any one outing. Of the many candidates the Dodgers have experimented with in the rotation, Wieland may have the most potential to miss bats, as he has 22 strikeouts and just two walks in 20 innings this season. While he may not stay in the rotation for long, there's a chance he could hold a spot all year if he really impresses. He is worth a flier in deep mixed leagues and most NL-only leagues.

Wieland will in fact not get the spot start Sunday for the Dodgers as he is taking the ball Saturday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.

While Wieland makes more sense on paper, Scott Baker appears to be the likely candidate to get the spot start Sunday. Given how well Wieland has pitched in the early going, he will probably find a way to get at least one start for the Dodgers at some point this season, but the doesn't quite have the pedigree to be a stash candidate in shallower formats.

Wieland is expected to be called up to start Saturday or Sunday against the Padres, the Los Angeles Times' Dylan Hernandez reports.

This makes sense, as the Dodgers could not afford to ride Mike Bolsinger in the rotation much longer. Brett Anderson and Clayton Kershaw will now be allowed to make their next starts on an extra day of rest. Wieland had a 1.80 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 10 innings (two starts) this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City. There's a solid chance that Wieland can stick in the rotation until Hyun-Jin Ryu is able to return, so he is worth a flier in deeper leagues given the strength of his team and the favorable pitching environments in 60 percent of the ballparks in the division.

Wieland tossed five innings of two-hit, shutout ball in a rain-shortened game for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Wieland didn't walk a batter and fanned five to give him a 1.80 ERA this year. He's in line for a callup should the team need another starter.

Wieland has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, the LA Times reports.

At one point he was considered the favorite to step in to replace the injured Hyun-Jin Ryu, but because of MLB roster rules that seems less likely now.
