Guerra has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for a drug of abuse, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 50-game ban will take Guerra out of action for most of Triple-A Charlotte's remaining schedule -- the affiliate will have just nine games remaining when he's eligible to return. Guerra, 29, has given up seven earned runs in just 3.2 innings with Charlotte this year, two more than he allowed in 19.1 innings with the team last season.

Guerra was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, J.J. Stankevitz of CSN Chicago reports.

The White Sox were unable to find a trade partner after designated Guerra for assignment, but will be able to keep him in the organization after no team claimed him off waivers. Guerra will head back to Charlotte, where he gave up seven runs on eight hits and a walk over 3.2 innings prior to missing time with shoulder inflammation.

Guerra (shoulder) was activated from the DL and designated for assignment Wednesday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Guerra was rehabbing a shoulder injury, and he'll return to Triple-A Charlotte, where he's appeared in four games this season, allowing eight hits and seven earned runs over just 3.2 cumulative innings.

Guerra (shoulder) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte, Doug Padilla of ESPN Chicago reports.

Guerra landed on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation and though he appears to be progressing well, he won't be ready to be activated Tuesday when he's first eligible. The righty will likely need to pitch in a few Triple-A games before being deemed ready to rejoin the big league club, but there's no exact timetable as to how long that will take.

Guerra was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday retroactive to April 13 with shoulder inflammation.

Guerra started the season pitching relatively well, allowing two hits and a walk but no runs over 1.2 innings in three outings. However, shoulder inflammation was likely part of the reason he hasn't appeared in a game since April 13, and now it will cause him to move to the disabled list.

Guerra agreed to a one-year, $937,500 contract with the White Sox to avoid arbitration, Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reports.

Guerra figures to fill a middle-relief role, as Jacob Petricka and Zach Putnam will likely be ahead of Guerra in the right-handed bullpen pecking order, behind closer David Robertson.

Guerra threw two scoreless innings of relief against the A's on Monday to earn the win.

He did not allow a base runner over his 22 pitches, creating three outs in the air, two on the ground, and one via the K. Guerra has been one of the team's more reliable late-inning options this season, so he could poach a win or two more down the stretch if the White Sox score a few more late wins (as they did Monday).

Guerra (personal) has rejoined the White Sox and will be activated Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times' Daryl Van Schouwen reports.

He will miss his sixth game Friday after being placed on the bereavement list last weekend, but should return to his mid-inning duties in Chicago's bullpen on Saturday.

Guerra was placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports.

Guerra will be forced to miss a minimum of three games following his placement on the bereavement list, and Eric Surkamp will be up to fortify the bullpen in the meantime. While Guerra has given up just three runs in his last 12 appearances, it does not look like he will get a chance to close for the White Sox this season.

After bailing the White Sox out in the eighth, Javy Guerra took a blown save and a loss while giving up two runs in the ninth Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Jake Petricka struggled after coming in with two outs in the eighth, retiring none of the four hitters he faced. That led to Guerra coming on with men on second and third and two outs in a one-run game. He got Mike Carp to ground out, but then he hit a batter, gave up an RBI double and surrendered a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth. It'd seem to bode well for Zach Putnam getting the White Sox's next save chance.
