Heyward went 2-for-4, hitting his fifth home run of the season in the win over Arizona Wednesday.

Heyward's solo shot tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Owners and the Cardinals alike will be hoping this is a sign of a breakout for the 25-year-old Heyward, who is hitting just .239/.290/.387 in his first season with the Cardinals.

Heyward (hip) is back in the lineup Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Heyward missed back-to-back contests due to hip tightness, but will return to his regular role in right field Monday afternoon. He appears safe to deploy in weekly lineups, although Randal Grichuk may still steal a start or two.

Heyward sat out Saturday's game against Kansas City due to tightness in his hip and is considered day-to-day, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Heyward had missed just one game this season prior to Saturday night's contest and while the Cardinals will want him to get right before sending him back out, they are already down an outfielder with Jon Jay currently on the disabled list. Owners should monitor his status over the next couple of days.

Heyward is out of the lineup for the second straight game Sunday against the Royals, FOX Sports Midwest reports.

Heyward is sitting back-to-back games for the first time this season, signifying that Randal Grichuk may have a chance to cut in to some of his playing time against right-handers. He does have six multi-hit games in May, but isn't seeing the ball particularly well, recording 15 strikeouts compared to six walks.

Heyward is not in the lineup Saturday against the Royals.

Following an 0-for-4 showing in Friday's loss, Heyward is now batting .238/.293/.377 in 164 plate appearances this season. Most of Heyward's struggles have come against right-handed pitching -- he has a .922 OPS against lefties -- but manager Mike Matheny may look to play the matchups more in right field moving forward with Randal Grichuk batting .286 (8-for-28, six XBH) since his recall.

Heyward went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and two runs in Wednesday's 9-0 drubbing of the Mets.

Perhaps the familiarity of Heyward's old NL East opponent has been good for him, as he's gone 3-for-9 in this series against the Mets. It's been a struggle for the 25-year-old outfielder this year, as this effort barely pushed his OPS for the season over .700, all the way to .702. It's a simple formula for Heyward right now -- with his strikeouts up and his walks down, he's largely been pressing at the plate. That in mind, he presents an enigmatic, but intriguing buy-low candidate.

Heyward is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

With the Cardinals facing a lefty after playing a 14-inning game, this is a sensible time to give Heyward a night off. He'll likely rejoin the lineup Wednesday.

Heyward is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

The writing on the wall has been worrying for Heyward's owners since he was dropped to eighth in the Cardinals' lineup. Now, Randal Grichuk is batting leadoff while taking over right field for Heyward. The two are likely in a platoon situation for the time being given that they are facing the left-handed David Price. This is a major hit to Heyward's value for the rest of the season.

Heyward went 2-for-3 out of the eight-hole with a two-run home run in the 10-4 loss to Detroit Friday.

Heyward has had an incredibly slow start and was moved down to the eight spot in the order with his poor play at the plate. Heyward is now batting .246, but only has a SLG of .369, so hopefully this homer is the start of a power surge for Heyward.

Heyward went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the 7-5 loss to the Pirates Saturday.

Heyward also grabbed a run and an RBI in the game and looked strong against righty Vance Worley, grabbing his two double in his first two at-bats. Heyward is off to a but of a slow start, but is always a good option when facing right-handers.
