Heyward is not in the lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

EDGE Analysis

The Cubs are resting a number of regulars after clinching the division Friday, and Heyward will be joined on the bench by Anthony Rizzo, Dexter Fowler and Ben Zobrist. Look for the team to continue doling out periodic rest days over the final two weeks of the regular season.

Heyward is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

EDGE Analysis

Heyward has made four consecutive starts for the Cubs, but it will be Albert Almora that gets the nod in right field Sunday evening. The veteran outfielder is hitless in his last five games, so perhaps a day off will help get Heyward back on the right track.

Heyward went 3-for-6 with three RBI, the last of which was the game-winner in the 13th inning of a 3-2 win over the Giants on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Heyward has been a disappointment this year from a fantasy perspective, although his defense has been a big plus for the Cubs. That said, ever since he was benched for a series in August, Heyward's bat has awakened a bit, as he's slashing .308/.321/.423 with nine RBI in his last 13 games. While those numbers may not be much to write home about, they're a big improvement over the rest of his season, as he's slashing just .234/.306/.325 with 41 RBI in 2016.

Heyward is out of Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers.

EDGE Analysis

Ben Zobrist will shift to right field as Javy Baez moves into the infield. Heyward has been having a decent road trip, batting .278 with a home run and two RBI over four starts. However, with the Dodgers starting left-hander Julio Urias, a day off was expected.

Heyward hit his sixth home run, a two run shot, in a 1-for-4 game in Monday's win over San Diego.

EDGE Analysis

Heyward made the most out of his first start after a weekend off, as he homered for the first time since July 29 against Seattle. He owned a brutal .196/.224/.250 batting line in 15 games since and has sat out six games in that time. The home run is a good sign for Heyward, but he'll probably need a few more solid games before he has completely earned back manager Joe Maddon's confidence.

Heyward is back in the lineup Monday after taking the weekend off.

EDGE Analysis

Heyward hasn't played since Wednesday against Milwaukee, as manager Joe Maddon gave him the weekend off to clear his head in the midst of a season-long batting slump. Heyward is hitting a measly .225 on the year, and he's just 9-for-48 at the plate in August. He'll slot back into the lineup Monday in right field, with Dexter Fowler in center and Kris Bryant in left.

Heyward will sit out of Friday and Saturday's games against the Padres, Jesse Rogers of ESPNChicago.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Cubs' decision to give Heyward the weekend off isn't injury related, rather they simply want him to rest, most likely hoping that he'll come out of his hitting slump upon his return. While Heyward is out, look for Jorge Soler or Ben Zobrist to play his normal right field spot.
