Rangers signed C A.J. Pierzynski to a one-year, $7.5 million contract.
Pierzynski passed a physical over the weekend, but the announcement was delayed until after Christmas. Many predicted that the veteran backstop would get a multi-year deal after he launched a career-high 27 home runs this past season, so the Rangers got a pretty nice bargain. We're skeptical about his chances for a repeat in 2013, but at least he'll be in a favorable hitting environment.
