Pineda (12-8) outduelded Chris Sale on Thursday, as he struck out six while allowing one run on eight hits across six innings in a 3-2 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The successful outing is nice to see as he drew 18 swinging strikes, but the length is becoming worrisome. Pineda has not eclipsed 100 pitches in seven straight starts and it looks as though he is being handled with kids gloves. The oft-injured Pineda has all the potential in the world, but he becomes limited when he cant go deep into games. This may be a case of the Yankees saving him for the playoffs and it may help to lower his value going into next season. Pineda will host the Red Sox on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.
