Nieuwenhuis' contract was selected by the Mets on Monday. Nieuwenhuis' 2015 season has now come full circle. After beginning the season as the bench outfielder for the Mets, the veteran outfielder was designated for assignment and subsequently traded to the Angels. After a short stint with his new club, the same happened there, and the Mets claimed him off waivers. While he won't see consistent playing time in the outfield, he should see spotty playing time.
