MASN's Roch Kubatko reports that the Tigers have discussed trading Rick Porcello to the Cubs, with the Orioles involved as a possible third party.
The Tigers are trying to get the Orioles involved because they covet shortstop J.J. Hardy and don't feel the Cubs have the proper component to make a two-team trade. For the deal to work, the Cubs would likely have to send pitching to the Orioles. However, Kubatko doesn't believe the Orioles will bite unless they are overwhelmed by an offer for Hardy. The Orioles have reportedly expressed interest in Porcello, so it's possible they could try to work out a deal with the Tigers without involvement from the Cubs.
