Mariano Rivera said Wednesday that he will make an announcement before the end of spring training about whether 2013 will be his final season.
Rivera has already made up his mind on his future, but he isn't ready to make an announcement right now. The 43-year-old right-hander hasn't had any setbacks following right knee surgery and threw his first official bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday. He will wear a knee brace this season, but doesn't expect it to hinder him in any way. We wouldn't bet against him regaining his status as a top option at closer.
