J.D. Drew (finger) took indoor batting practice Friday.
Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Drew's swings looked "OK," but he didn't provide a timetable for when the outfielder might return. At this point it would be a surprise if he's back before the end of the season, and if that's the case, it seems doubtful that he'd be active for the ALDS. Drew has not played since July because of a sore left shoulder and more recently a fractured knuckle on the middle finger of his right hand.
