Gutierrez signed a minor league deal, which includes a major league spring training invite, with the Mariners on Monday, the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Gutierrez played five years in Seattle from 2009-13 but sat out all of last season due to a gastrointestinal illness that had plagued him in previous years. The 31-year-old will attempt to work his way back to the major leagues, but he'll likely begin the year at Triple-A if he's unable to crack to initial 40-man roster. In 2013, Gutierrez hit .248 with 24 RBI and 10 home runs in 145 MLB at-bats.
