Gallardo (3-2) gave up four runs on five hits and four walks over seven innings in Wednesday's loss to the Yankees. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
After a 2015 in which Gallardo lucked into a 3.42 ERA despite a hideous 1.42 WHIP, his birds have come home to roost this year. He's lost whatever semblance of control he once had, as he's walked four in three straight starts and owns a brutal 37:31 K:BB over 55.1 innings, and his ratios reflect that. In fact, he's only allowed two or fewer runs in three of 11 starts. Unfortunately for the O's and their fans, there aren't many options around to displace Gallardo in the rotation, although it wouldn't be surprising to see them make a trade.
