Fiers (0-2) gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four in 5.2 innings Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals. After five innings of dueling with opposing starter John Lackey, Fiers frustrated his fantasy owners in leagues that count quality starts by finishing an out short after running into trouble in the sixth. Still, it's a far better effort than Fiers' first time out, and he's looking like he should at least be a playable option. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect a repeat of last year's dominance though.
