Fernandez (elbow) dazzled in his 42-pitch rehab outing at extended spring training Monday, Christina De Nicola of FOX Sports Florida reports. Pitching in a game setting for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2014, Fernandez looked like his dominant self, tossing three no-hit innings while striking out seven batters. More importantly than those results was the fact that his fastball was clocked as high as 97 miles per hour, which is roughly in line with his pre-surgery velocity. The 22-year-old will still need at least a few additional weeks to build up his workload, but much like the Mets' Matt Harvey showed earlier this season coming off Tommy John surgery, Fernandez may not face much, if any, difficulty in reestablishing himself as one of the league's top aces upon his activation.
