CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees and Robinson Cano haven't made much progress in negotiations for a contract extension.
The Yankees seem to think Cano is among the best 10-to-15 players in the game while Cano's camp says the 30-year-old is one of the few "elite" players in the league. That difference in valuation makes the path to a new deal a long and possibly painful one. Cano batted .313 with 33 home runs and 94 RBI last season and is currently due to hit free agency following the 2013 season. Contract issues aside, one thing we know for sure is that he should be the first second baseman off the board in fantasy drafts this spring.
