A determination about Ross's availability for the remainder of the season likely won't be made until Sunday at the earliest, MLB.com's Corey Brock reports. Ross is dealing with arm/elbow soreness, and the team will either elect to shut him down for the season or allow him to make one final start. His replacement in the rotation, Robbie Erlin, pitched six innings of one-run ball Thursday, so it certainly wouldn't be surprising if the Padres thought it would be more beneficial to play it safe with Ross and allow Erlin another start before the conclusion of the 2014 season. Owners should continue to monitor Ross's status heading into next week.
