Ramirez is a candidate to be moved this offseason from a Rays team looking to cut salary, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

The 26-year-old right-hander ate up some valuable innings out of the Rays bullpen this season, but also proved to be a bit up-and-down in his performance while amassing a career-high 11 losses. That followed a promising 2015 campaign when Ramirez had gone 11-6 with a respectable 3.75 ERA while starting 27 games. Ramirez made only one spot start all season despite talk coming out of spring training that he'd serve as an occasional fifth member of the rotation, instead tallying 63 relief appearances, over which he generated 15 holds, a 3.77 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. With the five-year major league veteran likely to be awarded approximately $4 million in arbitration, he could well be jettisoned in an effort to free up salary that will attract higher quality arms to the relief corps.

Ramirez notched his second save by pitching a clean 10th inning in Sunday's season-ending 6-4 victory over the Rangers. He also recorded a strikeout.

EDGE Analysis

After seeing Alex Colome blow his third save opportunity of the season in the ninth, Ramirez suddenly found himself in line for his second save of the campaign after the Rays took the lead in the top half of the 10th. Ramirez was able to set down Ryan Rua, Jurickson Profar and Delino DeShields in order, The 26-year-old closes out the campaign with four consecutive scoreless efforts, and totaled 15 holds and two saves in a relief role in 2016. Despite a few hiccups along the way, Ramirez proved to be a valuable asset for the Rays bullpen, particularly in long relief stints, and turned 5.2 innings of scoreless ball in his only spot start of the season back on Apr. 16 versus the White Sox.

Ramirez (7-10) gave up two earned runs on three hits and a walk over an inning in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

The long reliever faltered in the eighth, giving up a go-ahead RBI single to Aaron Hill and a two-bagger to Jackie Bradley, Jr. that brought home Brock Holt with an insurance run. The runs were the first given up by Ramirez since Aug. 13, and he ended August with three multi-earned-run outings. Despite the occasional hiccup, Ramirez has eaten up some valuable innings for the Rays out of the bullpen this season, firing 17.1 to 21 frames in three out of the season's five months to date.

Ramirez has put together scoreless outings in six of his eight August relief appearances, with the most recent being a 1.1-inning stint against the Red Sox on Monday in which he walked two but also recorded a pair of strikeouts.

EDGE Analysis

The 26-year-old righty has had a couple of hiccups during the month against the Twins and Yankees, respectively, but has otherwise been sharp in relief outings of varying length. Ramirez worked two or more frames in his first four appearances of the month, surrendering all five of the earned runs on his ledger in August over that span. The former starter continues to provide valued versatility out of the bullpen by eating some innings when necessary and otherwise serving as a a one-inning bridge in the latter portions of games. Ramirez sports a 7-9 record, 3.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 74.1 innings this season.

Ramirez threw two perfect innings Sunday, striking out four, to notch his 10th hold of the season in a win over the Orioles.

EDGE Analysis

After struggling to close out the month of June, Ramirez has now thrown five scoreless innings over four appearances in July with a 7:1 K:BB ratio. Brad Boxberger (oblique) seems on course to rejoin the Rays bullpen within the next week or two which could cause roles to be shuffled, but until then Ramirez seems set as one of Alex Colome's primary setup men.

Ramirez (6-4) only tossed one inning, but he was credited with the loss after allowing one run on two hits and a walk Thursday against Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis

Ramirez only threw eight of his 17 pitches for strikes, so he had plenty of problems to find the strike zone. The 26-year-old righty from Nicaragua has struggled badly of late, allowing runs in eight of his last 10 outings. He has a 7.04 ERA over that span.
