Holland (shoulder) threw 20 times from 60 feet Thursday afternoon, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

No issues were reported following the session, so it can be considered a positive first step in his recovery from a left shoulder strain. Holland is not expected to throw off a mound for another 2-to-3 weeks, but he could be an option in the second half if he continues to progress as expected.

Holland (shoulder) will resume throwing Thursday, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Holland will only play catch Thursday, but it's a step in the right direction as he continues to work back from a strained shoulder. Assuming all goes well, he could progress to throwing off of a mound in 2-to-3 weeks.

Holland (shoulder) will begin a throwing program in the next several days but it could be 2-to-3 weeks before he is able to throw off the mound, MLB.com's TR Sullivan reports.

This timetable makes a late-June/early-July return seem like the most likely scenario. Wandy Rodriguez and Phil Klein are currently holding the last two spots in the Rangers' rotation, but Klein's spot will likely be pretty fluid over the coming weeks.

Holland (shoulder) will undergo an MRI next Friday, and he hopes to start throwing the next day, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports.

With Holland not scheduled to throw until early-to-mid May, it's hard to imagine he'll be back with the Rangers any sooner than mid-June. His timeline was estimated at a minimum of six weeks when he was first diagnosed with the shoulder strain Apr. 10.

Holland (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day disabled list Saturday.

This comes as no surprise after the announcement Friday that he would miss at least six weeks with a left shoulder strain. It would not be surprising if this ends up being close to a lost season for Holland, as a serious shoulder issue like this can often end in surgery. In shallower leagues, it's probably time to cut bait, especially if your league does not offer DL spots.

Holland will miss four-to-six weeks due to a left shoulder strain, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Holland won't be able to pick up a baseball for about a month because of the issue, making a return after four weeks an optimistic stance. The injury dates back to the start of spring training, when he needed his first start pushed back because of shoulder soreness. In his absence, Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez could be considered for a rotation spot, but the club may consider bringing in a veteran free agent as well.

Holland exited Friday's game against the Astros after just one inning with tightness in the back of his left shoulder.

Shoulder tightness is definitely a big scare for pitchers, and Holland had shoulder issues in spring training. While it's possible the move was precautionary, the situation is definitely something to keep an eye on as it develops over the next couple days.

Holland is still expected to start the Rangers' home opener against the Astros on April 10, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

Yovani Gallardo will get the Opening Day nod, allowing Holland a few more days of preparation. The veteran lefty has been healthy since dealing with shoulder soreness early in spring training.
