Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon could return from the disabled list as early as Tuesday as he continues to recover from an injured thumb, according to Gordon is scheduled to play in a rehab game for High-A Jupiter on Sunday and could join the team afterward, before his activation sometime next week. “It’s possible, yes,” Marlins manager Dan Jennings told reporters Saturday night. “The batting practices have gone very well. He’s not feeling any discomfort. Now we just have got to get him into a game, and see how that feels to swing it [the bat] live.” The 27-year-old has not played since suffering the thumb sprain prior to the All-Star break on July 11 and he is already eligible for activation. An update on when he will be activated will likely be available following his rehab appearance Sunday.

Gordon (thumb) will not go on the disabled list for the time being, but he won't play in the series against the Phillies following the All-Star break, Joe Frisaro of reports. However, he's the Marlins hope he can rejoin the team soon after that series.

Gordon dislocated his thumb in Saturday's game, and the club hopes it won't keep him out much beyond the break. It will likely just depend on how quickly the injury heals, but the club will probably turn to the combination of Derek Dietrich and Miguel Rojas at the position in the meantime.

This is encouraging news for Gordon, who left Saturday's game with a dislocated thumb. Gordon has been diagnosed with a dislocated left thumb, Joe Frisaro of reports.

There's no word on how long Gordon's thumb injury will keep him on the shelf, but this is a huge blow to the Marlins and fantasy owners. Gordon is fifth in the majors in batting average and second overall in stolen bases, making him a premier fantasy asset. There is no set timetable for Gordon's return at this point, the dislocated thumb in 2012 sidelined him for a considerable amount of time. More information on his status should be available following Saturday's game.

Gordon (left thumb) exited Saturday's game against Cincinnati after sliding in to first base, writer Joe Frisaro reports.

According to Frisaro, Gordon looked "badly hurt." A right thumb dislocation landed Gordon on the 60-Day DL back in 2012, but hopefully this injury to the other thumb isn't as severe. The general tone in the reporting on Gordon's injury from Saturday puts his availability for the All-Star Game in doubt.

Gordon had a monster night at the dish Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Gordon abused the opposing battery of Michael Lorenzen and Tucker Barnhart (though he was caught once as well) to push his stolen base total to 33 as he trails on Billy Hamilton in the category. The speedy second baseman has slumped a bit at the dish of late and has seen his average from 34 points down to .336 since the start of June. Still, he's swiped six bags in his past six games and remains a constant threat on the base paths.
