Gordon tested positive for Testosterone and Clostebol and has been suspended for 80 games, Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

The defending National League batting champion and a consensus second round pick in most fantasy drafts this spring will miss 80 games after testing positive for exogenous Testosterone and Clostebol, a modified form of testosterone. Gordon, 28, does not fit the stereotypical build for a PED user, at 5-foot-11 and 171 pounds, but his career trajectory fits the general mold, as someone who most had given up on after the 2013 season, but then jumped up to an All-Star caliber player in 2014 and 2015. The 80-game suspension will keep him out until July 28. Derek Dietrich figures to be the replacement at the keystone in the meantime, making him a worthwhile pickup in deeper leagues.

Gordon went 2-for-5 with two runs and two steals Sunday at the Giants.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon's speed on the bases was critical in a game the Marlins would only win by a single run. Although the speedster has six steals on the season, these were the first he's recorded in his last six games.

Gordon is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Competitive Edge Analysis

After getting a routine day off Thursday leading up to a lengthy west coast road swing, Gordon will be back atop the order for Friday's contest in San Francisco. He'll be facing righty Jeff Samardzija for the first time in his career Friday.

Gordon is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon is 8-for-26 (.308) against Nationals starter Max Scherzer but just 4-for-21 (.190) in five games since April 16, so manager Don Mattingly decided to hold him out Thursday for the first time this season. Derek Dietrich will man the keystone Thursday in Gordon's place.

Gordon went 2-for-4 with a triple and one run scored in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon has tallied three multi-hit games in four contests this season while slashing a robust .421/.450/.737 through the opening week. He was, however, caught stealing for the second time Sunday afternoon and is 0-for-2 in stolen base attempts this season. Owners who drafted Gordon's elite speed may be frustrated with the early results, but the fact that he's attempted a pair of swipes in the first four games is encouraging. He'll continue to get a green light on the base paths and should begin to pile on the thefts quickly.

Gordon logged his second-straight three-hit effort Wednesday in a loss to the Tigers.

Competitive Edge Analysis

The speedy shortstop has six hits over the Marlins' first two games including two double and one triple to go along with one RBI and a pair of runs scored. He has yet to successfully swipe a base, and was caught once on Wednesday, but Gordon is certainly swinging a hot stick out of the gates.

Gordon went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run in Wednesday's spring training game against the Nationals.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon had one of the best seasons in all the majors last year, posting a batting average of .333 on 205 hits while swiping 58 steals on the basepaths. The 27-year-old has seven hits during 24 plate appearances this spring and will try to achieve a .300/60-steal/100-run season in 2016.

Gordon agreed to a five-year, $50 million contract with the Marlins on Wednesday, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon won the NL batting title last season and posted a career-best .777 OPS, so the Marlins decided to lock him in through 2020. The deal also includes a $14 million vesting option that could make him a Marlin for another season beyond that. Gordon will continue as the Marlins' regular second baseman and leadoff hitter in 2016 and beyond.

Gordon collected three hits including a double and a solo home run in the Marlins' season finale Sunday against the Phillies.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Gordon scored both of the Marlins' runs during the team's 7-2 loss in what was a fairly accurate summation of the team's frustrating 2015 season. Gordon put together a career best .333/.359/.418 slash line, taking home the national league batting crown and leading the majors with 58 steals. Despite a lack of patience at the plate, Gordon found a way to be consistently productive throughout the 2015 season and will rightly step into the top tier of second baseman ahead of 2016 fantasy drafts.

Gordon knocked two hits, scored two runs and swiped two bases during Sunday's win over Atlanta.

Competitive Edge Analysis

The Marlins offense has finally found some consistency in September despite missing Giancarlo Stanton, and Gordon's stellar play at the top of the lineup is a large factor. The speedy second baseman has piled up 56 steals on the year while batting a robust .332/.356/.412 with 82 runs, and 43 RBI over 626 plate appearances. Gordon is just one steal behind Billy Hamilton, who is out for the year with a shoulder injury, for the major league lead and has six games left to earn his second straight stolen base crown.
