Haren pitched six scoreless innings Saturday, allowing seven hits and three walks while striking out six in a 1-0 extra-inning win over the Orioles.

Haren was lucky not to give up any runs, as he was playing with fire every inning, working in and out of trouble. Nonetheless, for all intents and purposes, Haren has been the ace of the Marlins' injury-riddled staff this season. His next start comes Friday, when he travels to Citi Field to take on the struggling Mets.

Haren pitched well in a no-decision Monday, holding the Diamondbacks to two runs in eight innings.

Haren recovered from a six-run blow up in his last start to toss a gem against Arizona. The veteran has been strong this year, allowing more than two runs in a start just twice this year while posting a 3.47 ERA. His next start will come this weekend against the Orioles.

Haren struggled against his former team Tuesday, yielding six runs on 11 hits over just 4.1 innings pitched in a loss to the Dodgers.

He struck out four and walked none but allowed another couple of home runs in the abbreviated outing. Home runs have always been a concern for Haren and he's allowed eight long balls in his first seven starts this year. Still, the veteran right-hander holds a respectable 3.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 28 strikeouts and eight walks over 41.1 innings pitched. These types of outings are inevitable at this stage in his career, but Haren remains a very capable arm, tossing five quality starts in seven chances this year. His next start is currently slated for Monday against Arizona but the Marlins may alter their rotation a bit over the weekend if Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) is cleared to return.

Haren (4-1) pitched seven effective innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts, to pick up the win over the Giants on Thursday.

Haren did everything Thursday, driving in two runs, scoring two more and taking a shutout bid into the seventh. He hit a two-run double and scored later in the second and added a single and run scored in the fifth. He did the rest of his work on the mound, allowing two runs and eight hits in seven innings to extend his strong start to his Marlins career after contemplating retirement following his offseason trade from the Dodgers to Miami. Ironically, Haren's next start will be Tuesday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Haren threw six shutout innings on Saturday, scattering four hits and striking out four without walking a batter, to pick up his third win of the season.

After somewhat reluctantly taking his talents to South Beach in the offseason, Haren now sports an excellent 2.70 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in five starts for the Marlins. His 21:8 K:BB ratio and six home runs allowed in 30 innings point to some regression headed his way, but next week's road start in pitcher-friendly San Francisco could see him continue his impressive run for at least one more week.

Haren picked up his second win of the season Sunday against the Nationals, tossing five innings of two-run ball.

Haren allowed three hits and walked three with three strikeouts in the outing spending 91 pitches to get through five innings. The veteran right-hander was once again hurt by the long ball, allowing his sixth home run of the season in just four starts. Even with the homer problems, Haren has been solid so far with his new team, compiling a 3.38 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 24 innings pitched. He'll take the mound again on Saturday against the Phillies.

Haren was hurt by the long ball Tuesday in a loss to the Phillies, allowing a pair of two-run home runs over six innings.

Haren was uncharacteristically wild in the loss, walking three and throwing just 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes. He did rack up seven strikeouts and is sitting with a solid 3.32 ERA with 14 strikeouts against five walks through three starts (19 IP) this season. He'll look to keep the ball in the yard when he takes on the Nationals on Sunday in Miami.

Haren struck out five and walked two while holding the Braves to two runs on three hits over seven innings to earn his first win as a member of the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.

Both runs came on solo homers (courtesy of Cameron Maybin and Kelly Johnson), and Haren worked with the luxury of a four-run lead after five frames Wednesday. Haren will get two turns in the rotation next week, first against the Phillies on the road Tuesday before an April 26 home start against Washington.

Haren tossed three shutout innings Monday against the Nationals, allowing one hit and striking out three in his second appearance of the spring.

After a rough outing in his Marlins' debut, the veteran right-hander looked sharp in his second Grapefruit League effort. Despite questions surrounding his status following an offseason trade to Miami, Haren is settling in nicely with his new team. Haren spun 186 effective innings for the Dodgers last season with a 4.02 ERA and 1.18 WHIP and is in line to enter the season as the Marlins' No. 4 starter.

Haren is expected to start the Marlins' Grapefruit League opener Thursday, Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post reports.

After an offseason of insistence on playing close to home in the west coast, Haren is honoring his contract and will likely work in the Marlin's rotation. The key aspect to watch will be the 34-year-old's ability to use his four-seamer, sinker, and cutter to prevent hard contact, as he's allowed a brutally bad 1.4 home runs per nine innings in the last three seasons. His velocity has also declined, so don't be surprised if he walks onto the mound with an 85-mph fastball.
