Granderson put together his second consecutive two-hit game Wednesday against the Phillies.

After starting 1-for-17, Grandy's gone 4-for-9 over the last two games. We're still waiting for the power -- he has no homers and no RBI -- but he's shown impressive plate discipline and seems like he could score a lot of runs atop the Mets' lineup.

Granderson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.

Granderson has struggled to start the season and is probably receiving the day off to regroup. He's only hit 1-for-16, which is not ideal for a player in the lead-off role. John Mayberry will fill in at right field.

Granderson went 1-for-3 with two walks Thursday in a win over the Nationals.

The hit was Grandy's first of the year, as he's now 1-for-10 as the Mets' leadoff hitter in the early going, but he's drawn four walks in three games, which may help keep him atop the order for a little while yet. It's hard to believe, though, that Granderson will lead off for the Mets all year long.

Granderson is leading off Opening Day against Max Scherzer and the Nationals, Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News reports.

With a righty on the hill, manager Terry Collins elected to have Granderson lead off, moving Juan Lagares down to seventh.

Granderson (knee) returned to the lineup for Friday's spring training game, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Granderson's injury was hit in the knee by a pitch during Thursday's spring training game, but the issue was obviously minor. Assuming nothing resurfaces Friday, he should be fine for Opening Day.

Granderson is dealing with a bruised/swollen knee after being struck by a pitch on the leg in Thursday's spring game, ESPN New York reports.

Granderson said he was a little sore following his early exit Thursday, but he also noted that the pitch hit him on the side of the knee, which he felt was a best-case scenario. Granderson did not guarantee that he will be ready for the season opener, but he did not seem overly concerned about his health, so fantasy owners and Mets fans -- who saw Granderson go 20-for-46 (.435) with three home runs and 12 RBI this spring -- should be optimistic that he will be able to take the field Opening Day.

Granderson was removed from Thursday's spring game after being hit by a pitch on the right leg, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.

Granderson was able to jog to first base before being taken out of the game, so it seems likely he was removed for precautionary reasons. The Mets figure to provide an update on Granderson's status following Thursday's game.

Granderson went 3-for-3 Friday and is now hitting a cool .458 this spring.

Coming into spring training, the hope was that new Mets hitting coach Kevin Long could work his magic on Granderson, as he did in 2011-12 with the Yankees. So far, so good, as Granderson has two home runs, eight runs batted in and a 6:4 BB:K ratio.

Granderson and Juan Lagares will battle it out in spring training to determine who leads off for the Mets, the ESPN New York reports.Neither is an ideal candidate. Granderson had a .326 on-base average overall, including .289 in 235 plate appearances while leading off. Lagares had a .321 on-base average for the year, though he showed he could handle the role late in the season. However, Granderson has hitting coach Kevin Long touting him for the role and he did spend time successfully as the Tigers' leadoff hitter from 2006-09. On the flip side, Lagares stole nine bases his final 18 games while leading off, which might give him the edge.

Granderson, even with his 0-for-3 Saturday, is hitting .351 (26-for-74) with four home runs and 17 runs batted in over his past 21 games, the NY Post reports.

Granderson is finishing what has been a disappointing season on a strong note. He will enter 2015 as a question mark due to his overall struggles but still should bat in a prime spot in the batting order.
