Ramos signed a one year, $1.3 million contract with the Angels on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

Ramos finished the 2014 campaign with a decent stat line, posting a 3.70 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 43 appearances (seven starts) over the course of the season. His fastball saw a significant drop in velocity, however, from 91.1 MPH in 2013 to 90 MPH in 2014. Despite the drop, he posted better numbers in 2014, but struggled with walks (4.24 BB/9). He was traded to the Angels in the offseason, and is expected to be the club's top lefty out of the bullpen in 2015.

Angels GM Jerry Dipoto indicated Ramos will serve as the top lefty out of the bullpen in 2015, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

Acquired from the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for Mark Sappington, Ramos put up a somewhat underwhelming 3.70 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 43 appearances in 2014, but he's held opposing lefties to a .241/.301/.324 batting line for his career. He'll likely assume the role of top lefty right away, making him of some interest for those in leagues that count holds.

Ramos was acquired by the Angels in exchange for Mark Sappington.

Ramos had been a solid contributor for the Rays, working a 3.70 ERA and striking out a career high 66 in 43 appearances. He'll be a left-handed option out of the bullpen for the Angels.

Cesar Ramos is set to go on paternity leave soon.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said that Ramos' wife Melanie "is due any second now." Jeff Beliveau, who was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, is a likely candidate to be recalled to replace Ramos on the roster.

Cesar Ramos has been moved to the Rays' bullpen.

He gets the boot from the rotation with Alex Cobb (oblique) set to return on Thursday. Ramos was lit up for 13 runs -- nine earned -- over his last two starts, so the demotion comes as no surprise. He should be a weapon in relief for the Rays.

Cesar Ramos lasted just 1 1/3 innings and gave up four runs in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.

Ideally, this will be his last start for a while. Alex Cobb is going to return next week and should slide into his rotation spot. Ramos did well in his first four starts of the season, but he's been lit up in the last two. Middle relief is likely his best role.

Cesar Ramos was lit up for nine runs -- five earned -- on 11 hits in Monday's loss to the Mariners.

To his credit, Ramos had served up all nine of those runs by the end of the third inning. Unwilling to abuse his bullpen, Joe Maddon sent the left-hander back out there and Ramos collected three scoreless innings in what was already a laugher. And it's not like his teammates showed up to the park with their "A" games either, committing three errors behind him, with the southpaw committing a throwing error himself in solidarity. Ramos will carry his 3.71 ERA into his next outing against the Angels on the road.

Cesar Ramos pitched 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball Thursday against the Red Sox in his latest start for the Rays.

Since ascending to the rotation, Ramos still hasn't topped five innings in any of his three starts. However, he's gotten the job done, allowing just two runs in those starts, even though he's walked nine and struck out nine in the process. He's too risky to play in AL-only leagues right now.
