Posey went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Friday's loss to the Padres.

EDGE Analysis

Posey took a fastball that was out of the strike zone and hammered it to left center, narrowly missing a home run and driving in two in the process. You've heard this before, but that ball would have been a home run in almost any other ballpark. The cool San Diego night kept the ball in the park for what could have been Posey's 14th homer of the season. So is life batting in the NL West. This wasn't the first, and will not be the last time a hitter is robbed of a home run by Petco Park, AT&T Park or Dodger Stadium. The two RBI brought Posey's total to 70 on the season, a mark he has reached in five straight years. With the Giants' playoff hopes on the line, look for the All-Star catcher to be the centerpiece of the lineup for the team's remaining eight games.

Posey will be held out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.

EDGE Analysis

Manager Bruce Bochy was adamant that it's just going to be a rest day for Posey, who will still be available off the bench in the series finale against St. Louis. Posey is catching and batting third Saturday -- his fourth straight start behind the plate and 11th straight start overall (one start at first base).

Posey went 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs and four RBI in Friday's 8-2 win over the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

Posey paced San Francisco's victory with a trio of hits, including his 13th homer of the season -- a two-run shot off Jaime Garcia in the fourth. The long ball was his first since July 16, snapping a 37-game homerless streak for the All-Star backstop. Despite his recent power outage, Posey has been swinging the bat well over the past couple weeks, batting .340/.358/.400 in his last 11 games. Posey's collected seven hits in his past two contests to lift his season line up to .294/.367/.449.

Posey went 4-for-5 with a double and a run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

The Giants scored six runs, and yet Posey's four hits out of the three-hole didn't result in many counting stats. This has been a bit of an underwhelming season the 29-year-old's standards, as his current .290 average and .804 OPS are five-year lows. He's still been a productive fantasy backstop, but owners who spent early picks on Posey can't be happy with his drop-offs in average and power. That said, Posey may simply be suffering from bad BABIP and HR/FB luck; he remains one of the top few fantasy catchers, mostly thanks to leading the position in runs scored with 76.

Posey went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

Posey bounced back after going 0-for-6 in Friday's extra-inning win over these same Diamondbacks. It is hard to complain about a .285/.361/.434 slash line from a catcher, but the All-Star has seen his numbers dip across the board this season. While the homers (12) and RBI (63) are not where his owners would like them to be, Posey has already surpassed last year's totals in doubles (30), triples (two) and stolen bases (six).

Posey is not in the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey will get the day of after struggling mightily in the Giants' four-game series against the Cubs, in which he went just 1-of-16 at the plate. The Giants will go with Trevor Brown behind the plate Monday.

Posey went 1-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over Arizona.

EDGE Analysis

The catcher has been heating up just in time for the fantasy playoffs. Posey finished August with a .321 average, his best mark for any month this season. He's also tallied 15 RBI and scored 13 runs this month. On the other hand, Posey went homeless in August and remains without a home run since July 16.

Posey is back in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Braves, Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News Group reports.

EDGE Analysis

Posey had a maintenance day Saturday, but will return to action for San Francisco's series finale against Atlanta. Posey has been going on a tear at the plate recently, having gone 8-for-17 (.471) over his last five games.

Posey is not in the lineup Sunday against the Mets.

EDGE Analysis

Posey's day off was likely scheduled ahead of time, as Sunday day games generally result in a lot of regular days off for catchers. It came at a good time too, with Posey going 0-for-8 at the plate over the last couple days. Trevor Brown will replace him in the lineup Sunday, batting eighth, but Posey should return behind the dish Tuesday when the Giants open their next series in Los Angeles.

Posey went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

EDGE Analysis

The few days off Posey received to rest his back have apparently paid off as the slugger has collected five hits and three RBI in two games since his return. Back injuries tend to linger, but it appears the All-Star backstop is currently healthy with his appearance behind the dish in a day game following a night game.
