Phillips (toe) is in the lineup Saturday hitting leadoff.

He was out of Friday's lineup with the toe injury but made an appearance off the bench. Consider Phillips relatively healthy moving forward. He has not shown much power so far this season but is hitting .297 and routinely slots in at an advantageous spot in the Reds' lineup.

Phillips (toe) is out of the lineup Friday against the Nationals, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Phillips' turf toe issue prevented him from playing either Tuesday or Wednesday, and that absence will extend through Friday as well. Skip Schumaker will once again start at the keystone, batting seventh for the Reds.

Phillips (toe) pinch-hit but struck out in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Before the game, Reds manager Bryan Price talked about wanting to allow Phillips' toe to "cool off" for three consecutive days (including Thursday's off-day), so that indicates that the Reds expect him to return Friday.

Phillips (toe) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Phillips aggravated his turf toe in his left foot recently and it will cause him to miss a minimum of two games including Wednesday. Skip Schumaker will receive the start in his place, batting leadoff for the Reds. The team has off Thursday, so a return to the lineup Friday isn't out of the question if his pain subsides.

Phillips is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Rockies because he aggravated the turf toe he's been dealing with on his left foot, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Phillips missed a game due to the same injury back on May 13, but this only marks the fifth time he's been out of the lineup all season. While there's been nothing to indicate he'll require an extended absence, turf toe often lingers for a long time, and there's thus some chance Phillips will miss more games down the road.

Phillips is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Phillips started each of the previous nine games, and this is only the fifth time all season he's been out of the lineup. While he only has two home runs, he's otherwise bounced back nicely from a disappointing 2014, sporting a .299/.337/.357 slash line, with 18 RBI, 18 runs and six stolen bases. Phillips makes for a decent sell-high candidate, but he is doing a better job of making contact, with his strikeout, swinging-strike and contact rates all showing significant improvement from the previous two seasons.

Phillips went 2-for-4 Saturday with his sixth stolen base of the season.

It's his ninth multi-hit games in 18 May appearances, pushing his slash line on the month to .369/.431/.446, and all six of his steals have come in May as well. Despite his poor 2014, it looks like the 34-year-old Phillips might have something left in the tank after all.

Though Phillips (toe) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, he is available to pinch-hit or be a defensive replacement, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The Reds are trying to take the cautious approach with Phillips but believe he's near ready to return. "I think it could be something that's exacerbated by going out and playing nine innings," manager Bryan Price said. "I think he could pinch-hit, or in an emergency go out there and play defense. I think he could probably do anything but it makes more sense to look at him as a possible starter for (Friday's) game as opposed to (Thursday). That's just being conservative. If he had to play, he could play."

Phillips (toe) is out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants.

Phillips remains day-to-day after leaving Tuesday's game with a left big toe issue. The club hasn't provided much of an update on his status to this point, so it's tough to tell how long Phillips will remain out of the lineup. Skip Schumaker will start at second base Thursday, batting eighth for the Reds.

Phillips (toe) will not be in the lineup Wednesday against the Braves, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The Reds have not provided much in terms of an update on Phillips, saying only that it was a left big toe injury that forced him from Tuesday's game in the seventh inning. However, the second baseman is reportedly no worse than day-to-day ahead of Thursday's series opener against San Francisco. Skip Schumaker came into Tuesday's game to pinch-hit for Phillips and would be a logical choice to get the start Wednesday.
