Zobrist (knee) will play a rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.

Zobrist began his rehab assignment Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a game with High-A Stockton. It's not clear how many rehab games in all Zobrist will require, but he could be back with the big club sometime next week.

Zobrist (knee) is scheduled to play five innings in a rehab game with High-A Stockton on Tuesday, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.

A's manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Zobrist may rejoin the big-league club for a homestand that begins May 25. First, Zobrist will play at least a few games in the minor leagues, as he's been out since April 24.

Manager Bob Melvin suggested Saturday that Zobrist may begin his rehab assignment either Tuesday or Wednesday, and he could rejoin the team for the next homestand beginning May 25, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.

If Zobrist returns May 25 as Melvin suggests, it would slate his return for the early end of the initial 4-to-6 week timetable. When he does rejoin the club, it's quite possible he'll be shifted back to the infield to take over at second base.

Zobrist (knee) could begin a rehab assignment Monday, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports.

It's expected that he'll make two stops during the rehab assignment, first at High-A Stockton before a stint with Triple-A Nashville. Zobrist appears to be on track for a return in late May.

Zobrist (knee) will take batting practice Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

Zobrist was hitting off of a tee last week, and he remains on track to return prior to the end of the month, which he previously stated was his goal.

Zobrist started hitting off a tee Thursday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.

He said he hopes to return before June 1, which seems like a strong possibility now that he has begun hitting. His next step will be to take batting practice.

Zobrist isn't experiencing any discomfort in his knee during his rehab, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Zobrist underwent successful knee surgery toward the end of April, and the initial timetable of 4-to-6 weeks leaves open the possibility of a return toward the end of May. He has not resumed hitting yet, but has reported his rehab is progressing very well, so it's possible Zobrist can return on the earlier end of that timetable.

Zobrist will need left knee surgery and could be out 4-6 weeks, Jon Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The A's will have trouble without Zobrist, starting Eric Sogard at second base with rookie Max Muncy backing him up. Zobrist wasn't hitting well in 2015 with a .240/.304/.400 slash line, but his potential was a huge reason the overhauled A's were expected to comepete for the AL West. He'll likely be better upon return since his struggles could have stemmed from the knee issue, but he still carries a large amount of risk.

Zobrist (knee) has been placed on the DL.

Zobrist's knee must have been hurting more than he let on, as he was previously considered day-to-day. Zobrist will be eligible to return May 10 and will be replaced on the roster by Max Muncy, who has hit .293/.408/.466 with Triple-A Nashville in 2015.

Zobrist (knee) is unlikely to play on Saturday, reports Jane Lee of MLB.com.

Zobrist served as the DH on Friday night, but indicated before the game that the knee was still not 100% and it did not feel comfortable yet. He will get another day of rest on Saturday (especially with rain in the forecast) and is likely considered day-to-day at this point.
