Zobrist (knee) is having a cortisone shot on Monday and will be out "several" days,

reports Jane Lee of MLB.com.

Zobrist's MRI showed no ligament damage and the team is hoping the cortisone and rest will solve his soreness. Zobrist is likely out until at least Thursday depending on how quickly the cortisone works. Zobrist is hitting .267 with one homer through his first 45 Oakland at-bats.

Zobrist (knee) is out of the lineup Monday against the Angels.

Zobrist exited Sunday's contest with left knee soreness that will apparently cost him at least one more game. The exact extent of the injury is currently unknown, but Eric Sogard will fill in at second base in his stead, batting eighth.

Zobrist exited Sunday's game in the fifth inning with left knee soreness and is considered day-to-day, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

Zobrist was likely removed for precautionary measures, but the situation is worth monitoring over the next couple of days to ensure nothing more comes of the issue.

Zobrist came out of Sunday's game in the bottom of the fifth inning with an undisclosed injury.

Zobrist struggled with a heel injury earlier this week, but it is not clear if that is the reason for his departure on Sunday. He had singled in a run in the top of the fifth, but left while in the field in the bottom half.

Zobrist (heel) will bat third and start at second base in Friday's game against the Royals, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.

Zobrist's absence only lasted one game, and he's been in the starting lineup for every other contest. This will be his fourth start at second base, with the other five coming in either left or right field. Zobrist has strictly hit out of the No. 3 hole this season.

Zobrist had a great A's debut, going 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Monday night.

Zobrist hit third on Monday night and should spend all season in the middle of the A's lineup. With eligibility in the outfield as well as both middle infield spots, Zobrist is a valuable chip for fantasy owners to move around lineups and should get to double digits in both homers and steals.

Zobrist was scratched from Monday's spring training game with tightness under his left shoulder, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It doesn't appear to be a major issue, as Zobrist reported that he probably could have played if it were a regular season game. Given that it's still mid-March, the team will likely play it cautiously as long as he's reporting any soreness, but he should be considered day-to-day for now. Joe Wendle will take over at second during his absence Monday.

Zobrist could be Oakland's Opening Day right fielder, the Bay Area News Group's John Hickey reports.

With Josh Reddick (oblique strain) expected to open the season on the DL, playing Zobrist in right field and Eric Sogard at second base may prove optimal at the outset. This will allow Zobrist to retain outfield eligibility in some leagues, but that probably would have happened anyway given his versatility. Once Reddick is healthy, look for Zobrist to start at second base more often than not.

Zobrist was traded to the A's on Saturday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.

Oakland lands Zobrist and Yunel Escobar in exchange for John Jaso, top prospect Daniel Robertson and lesser prospect Boog Powell. Zobrist will primarily play second base and the outfield in Oakland, and profiles as a great fit on an A's team that has become well-known for valuing versatile players in recent years. The case could be made that Zobrist immediately becomes the A's best hitter, as his 119 wRC+ from last season ranks first on the roster among qualified hitters. He should come close to replicating his .272/.354/.395 slash line from last season, with close to 10 homers and 10 steals in his age-34 season, and will become a free agent at the end of the year.
