Pollock is penciled in as the Diamondbacks' leadoff hitter to begin the season, the Arizona Republic reports.

A hand injury cost Pollock a significant portion of last season, but he flashed more power than expected during the first half. Pollock made mechanical adjustments to his swing last season, lowering his hands and adding a bigger leg kick, which may have helped him show the added pop. In the event that he continues to drive the ball more consistently, he could move into a run-producing role, but Pollock offers a good on-base percentage as a tablesetter ahead of the team's power bats.

Pollock had a crushing night against the Padres on Friday as he went 3-for-4 with one run scored and four RBI as he smashed his seventh home run of the season.

In 200 at-bats this season, Pollock has hit six homers, scored 30 runs and stolen 11 bases. Average that over a full year and you've got quite the productive player. Pollock (.315/.363/.535) will continue to get full-time at-bats for the D-Backs here on out.

Pollock is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

Pollock will now have been held out of the starting lineup in back-to-back contests, as the Diamondbacks will go with an outfield composed of Alfredo Marte, Ender Inciarte and Cody Ross on Sunday afternoon. Pollock recently returned from an extended DL stint after breaking his hand, and it appears the team is easing him back into action still. His absence from the lineup also gives manager Kirk Gibson an extended look at some of the team's younger outfield options.

Pollock is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Pollock just returned from a lengthy absence earlier in the week, so he will get a day off after playing back-to-back days for the Diamondbacks for the first time since late May. Ender Inciarte will slide over and cover center field in Pollock's place.

Pollock is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.

Pollock returned to the lineup Tuesday, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Since he had missed just over three months with a broken hand, the Diamondbacks will likely bring him back into the fold slowly. As a result, Ender Inciarte slots in at center field Wednesday to spell Pollock.

Pollock (hand) will likely rejoin the Diamondbacks when the rosters expand on Sept. 1, Jack Magruder of Fox Sports Arizona reports.

Pollock has been playing rehab games with Triple-A over the past week, but the team seems content to leave him there until the rosters expand considering they are no longer in the playoff hunt. He should be back with the team Monday.

Pollock (hand) is expected to rejoin Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

It's not entirely clear whether Pollock will return to action right away, with Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com suggesting he won't play until Tuesday, but it does sound like Pollock will be back on the field here shortly. Pollock, who went just 1-for-18 in his first four games with Reno, was pulled off his assignment after being hit by a pitch on his injured hand.
