Angels and 3B David Freese avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.05 million contract. The two sides settled at the midpoint of figures that were exchanged earlier this month. Freese receives a sizable raise over last year's $3.15 million salary even though he's coming off a disappointing year that saw him bat just .262/.340/.381 with nine homers. He'll look to rebound in 2014 in his first year in Anaheim.
