Marc Carig of New York Newsday confirms that the Yankees offered Hiroki Kuroda a one-year deal worth more than $15 million. The offer was made about one month ago. Meanwhile, the proposed salary is right in line with what was speculated by Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York. Kuroda earned $15 million in 2013 while posting a 3.31 ERA and 150/43 K/BB ratio over 201 1/3 innings, so he would be getting a slight raise to return in 2014. The Yankees are aware that Kuroda takes a while to make a decision about his future, as a return to Japan has been discussed in previous years. This winter appears no different.
