Robinson Cano 2B SEA 10 Months
Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner told George A. King III of the New York Post on Wednesday that the club informed Robinson Cano's agent, Scott Boras, that they are willing to consider a "significant" long-term deal.
Steinbrenner noted that talks were held before spring training and that nothing has happened since. "We expressed to Scott what a great Yankee he has been and we hope he continues his career here for a long time to come," said Steinbrenner. "We indicated to him on a very preliminary basis that we were willing to consider a significant long-term contract." Cano, 30, is due to become a free agent following the 2013 season and could command a contract in the range of $200 million on the open market.
