Ike Davis 1B PIT Nov 19 '78
Ike Davis admitted Friday that he was fatigued last season due to the effects of Valley Fever.
Davis downplayed the condition last year, but he's finally ready to admit that it probably played a part in his terrible start to the season. "I had to limit a lot of things last year as far as workload," Davis said. "I didn't have a beer all of spring training last year. I went home and laid on the couch. And I usually fish for another six hours every day [after Mets workouts]. Davis eventually rallied to hit 27 of his 32 homers after June 11, with him starting to regain his strength no doubt playing a part. Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com writes that Davis has "infinitely more energy now," so perhaps the 25-year-old will improve upon that .227 average to go along with his nice power numbers.
