Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Cardinals "would want a financial commitment" from David Price before they agreed to trade for him. The "financial commitment," presumably, would be in the form of a long-term extension. Price is making $14 million this season and is eligible for arbitration for a final time over the winter before hitting free agency. It's unclear at this point whether the left-hander would consider such an arrangement before being dealt. The Mariners are also interested in Price, and Cafardo says to "don't rule out the Giants."
