Draft Troubleshooting

Before your scheduled draft date, be sure to test your system's compatibility by clicking the test link from the draft page. It ensures your computer will be able to use the live draft software. When you click the test link, you may be prompted to download and install the Java plugin. This is safe and easy to do. Java is used to run applets, a common extension to web pages. Most computers already have Java installed. If you are unable to install the plugin, it might be because your are prohibited from installing applications on your computer (this is common in a work or school environment). You should find a different computer to use on draft day. If your system fails the test, it means you are behind a firewall that won't allow access to the Fleaflicker draft room. This is very rare, but happens in some school or work environments. You should find a different computer to use on draft day.

Compatibility Issues

If Java still isn't installed after running the test, visit the Java website and try to download the software manually. If you see the following error during the installation: You need Administrative Permission to install the JRE it means you are not the administrator of your computer. If you are trying to install the JRE on a personal computer, you may grant your account administrative privilege by going to: Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change An Account -> Select your account name -> Change My Account Type -> Select Computer Administrator. If you are trying to install the JRE on a corporate or school computer, contact the network administrator for administrative permission. If that isn't an option, you will have to use another computer for the draft.

Connection Issues

If the draft software loads but you receive a connection error, you might have a firewall which is blocking access to the live draft server. This is most common on laptops. In this case disable the firewall or connect from a different location. The error might also mean that you lost your Internet connection. Wait a few minutes and try the test again to be certain.

The draft test doesn't work

Make sure your browser doesn't block scripts like the one used to test your system for compatibility. Some anti-virus programs might also block the test program from working. Make sure that your browser can run JavaScript.

On Windows XP, I see a gray box and nothing else

There is a bug in some versions of Java that causes it to crash on Windows XP computers that use an alternative desktop theme or skin. To fix the issue, revert back to a default Windows theme: StartSettingsControl PanelDisplay→Change your theme to the default, called Windows XP.
